It is not without reason that DCI (D-Chiro-Inositol) and Myo Inositol Complex 40:1 are two of Ovabalance's most popular supplements.
It is available as a single supplement and even more effective in various value bundles tailored to your health goals.
What is Inositol?
Inositol was once considered a B vitamin. Today it is known that the body can produce inositol itself. Therefore, inositol is not really a vitamin, but is also called a 'pseudovitamin' or 'half-vitamin'.
Inositol is found in small amounts in a variety of foods, but the main natural sources are fruits, nuts, grains and lecithin. There are nine different forms of inositol. When people talk about inositol, they are often talking about Myo-Inositol; one of the nine structures. It is a stable form which makes it suitable for use in supplements.
Although the body produces inositol itself, the need for inositol can in certain situations be higher than the body's own production and the intake through food. Inositol powder is an effective way to take a high dose of Myo-Inositol, to quickly supplement the body's own production.
What is DCI?
DCI is the abbreviation for D-Chiro-Inositol. A substance that plays an important role in the sugar metabolism in your body. DCI is often confused with Myo Inositol, but this is not the same.
What is the difference between DCI and Myo inositol?
Both Myo-Inositol (MYO) and D-Chiro-Inositol (DCI) are members of the vitamin B family. The most important similarity is that Myo-inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol are used in insulin signal transduction. The transmission of signals within a cell. But they are not the same. Myo inositol is the precursor of DCI and your body must therefore convert Inositol to D-Chiro-Inositol. With DCI you take the directly active substance.
The DCI product from Ovabalance are capsules and can be taken whole with water. The Myo inositol complex is in powder form which you have to mix with a glass of water or smoothie.
Ovabalance DCI capsules contain 600 mg per capsule. The Myo inositol complex contains 80 mg DCI per dose. In addition to DCI, the myo inositol complex contains 3120 mg Myo inositol and 800 mg L-Arginine.
What is DCI in?
DCI is only found in very small amounts in food. It is found in buckwheat, chickpeas, pumpkin and pumpkin seeds. This is not sufficient and therefore your body needs to convert (Myo) Inositol into DCI. Because converting this is a long and not so easy process, we recommend a DCI supplement.
